SmartDark & Handsome: Week 1

After one week.... so far, so good. I have not noticed tremendous change to his color but I have noticed how he is shedding his winter coat easily and is quickly becoming slick and shiny. I think overall the supplement has brought life back to his winter hair and aided in the shedding process. Fuzzy pony is not a good look! Mo has seemed to not mind the addition of the supplement to his grain. He gave it a few sniffs, it does have an noticeable odor but quickly dug right in. If  you have a pick eater don't hesitate to call Smart Pak to request a free sample. Overall, I am pleased with the supplement in the first week and am looking forward to more changes!

If you are feeling left out because you don't have a dark colored horse....no worries, SmartShine is great for of all colors. Stop spraying on a healthy glow and start working from the inside out.

Surf on over and check out the maker's of this fine supplement as well as many others at http://www.smartpak.com/ or give'm a shout 1-888-501-9701.

Slow Cooker Time!

Some may think that the dead of winter is time to use the slow cooker but when the weather is getting nicer I find myself in  the barn at dinner time instead of the kitchen and then think to myself..............

Problem solved!
All Seasons Slow Cooker Recipes For Horselovers: Get Out Of The Kitchen And Into The Saddle In 15 Minutes Or Less

Debbie's slow cooker recipe book really began ten years ago. After a long day of teaching riding lessons and training horses, the idea of cooking a nutritious meal was monumental. Debbie began to use her slow cooker more and more, and to this day, almost every meal she makes is prepared with one. This is a book of slow cooker recipes that a horseperson can prepare in 15 minutes or less. It allows a horse lover to get to the barn, ride all day, and come home to a healthy wholesome meal. There are over 100 easy to make recipes in the book, along with fabulous horse treat recipes that your equine friends will love. Beautiful equestrian quotes on the pages, and histories and photos of different breeds of horses that helped to shape the American landscape are included. The recipes in this book are for all seasons, from stuffed peppers to banana nut cake. . . it's all in the cookbook.
Hope this helps and enjoy!

SmartDark & Handsome

Meet Mo, our 11 year old black, slightly faded to brown and white show show pony that belongs to my 8 year old daughter. Mo and my daughter have a busy show season ahead of them full of halter classes, showmanship, english and western classes to compete in. Nobody wants to show a faded black and white pony so we are gonna do something about it!

The great people over at SmartPak have come up with all kinds of wonderful supplements that help with everything from coat and skin, hoof care to digestion and overall health. Amazing! Browsing through a catalog, that proves to be an interesting read, I noticed that they had a supplement for our exact problem....faded black pony disease. (not really a disease, just not cute)

SmartDark and Handsome is designed for dark colored horses and is filled with Omega 3 fatty acids from flax seed, fish oil and chia seed for healthy skin. The spices, paprika and nutmeg were added to the mix to support darker, richer coat color. Just what we need...a shiny, black and white pony!

I started the supplement yesterday and plan to feed him the supplement for 56 days. Every Monday, I will update my blog with a new photo so we can see the transformation!

Halter + Duct Tape = Hot!!

Got busy with some duct tape today to create this cool halter for my daughter who has decided all things pink zebra are a must for her pony Mister Mochalatte!

Phase one.....

Finished product!
The tape was so easy to work with and it took me maybe 30 minutes to complete. As a bonus, I am thinking this will make the halter water and dirt proof too, we all know how yucky looking are halter's get!

Find an array of "designer" duct tape colors and patterns to match your personality at any Wal-Mart or Lowe's. We found the pink zebra at Tractor Supply!

SSG Schooler Glove

Sure wish my daughter had a pair of these for her lesson this afternoon. Not only to keep her warm but to help keep her left and right's straight. Trainer say's more left rein and at 8 she is still a little confused. No worries, look down and they are marked L & R. Perfect for learning your leads! Just a little something to help these girls's out when some much is going on at once.....heels down, eye's up, stretch up tall, hit the middle, is your diagonal correct, bump him back and more left rein, NO PROBLEM!

These great gloves can be found at http://www.ssgridinggloves.com/ or at http://www.doversaddlery.com/. This is a fairly new product and may be hard to find at your local tack shop or your favorite website.

New Identification Technology

You can tell alot about a horse by looking at it's eye's....true? I think so in more ways than one...but did you ever dream they would be able to identify your horse by iris scan? The company EyeD has recently launched a more intelligent identification system that scans the iris. It takes just seconds to capture the initial iris scan and seconds to verify identification later on. Much more accurate than relying on tattoos or markings.More info on this great technology can be found at http://www.eyed.com/.

eyeD Three Step Process

Speaking of identifying things! Having trouble keeping up with all those brushes, bottles of fly spray, hoof picks etc... Then check out these custom labels that you design yourself and are perfect for horse people because they are water, heat, dirt and mud tolerant! I think horse people meet that same criteria, wouldn't you!!
